How the DoorDash appeal works

Where to appeal
In-app 'Start appeal' button, or the appeal form linked in your deactivation email. You cannot appeal through Dasher Support.
Deadline
1 year from deactivation to file the first appeal (Seattle Dashers: 90 days).
Decision time
Usually a few business days; appeals are reviewed by DoorDash staff. Track status live in the app.
Re-appeals
One first appeal, plus one re-appeal allowed after a 90-day wait if denied. Not an open loop.

Written channel only, no call or hearing, so the written appeal carries the whole case. Don't spam status checks.

What a strong DoorDash appeal reads like

Calm, factual, concise: 2-3 short paragraphs. State the exact reason DoorDash cited, answer each point with specific evidence, and own any genuine mistake briefly with the corrective action taken. No anger, threats, or begging on metric cases.

If your appeal is denied

  • Wait 90 days and re-appeal with NEW evidence.
  • If the background or driving report is wrong, dispute it directly with the company that made it (usually Checkr).
  • The law (FCRA) makes them recheck it, usually within 30 days, and the fixed report goes to the platform automatically.
  • Fixing a wrong report is often the easiest win there is.
  • Binding arbitration (Dasher ICA Section 13, updated May 2026): individual arbitration through JAMS under its Comprehensive Rules (AAA as fallback).
  • Required first step: email dasher.informal.resolution@doordash.com with the name, phone, and email on your Dasher account and a description of the dispute; the conference happens within 60 days of your notice.
  • If that fails, the formal demand goes by certified mail, return receipt, to General Counsel, 303 2nd Street, South Tower, Suite 800, San Francisco, CA 94107, personally signed.
  • Your share of arbitration fees is capped at the court filing fee. (Opting out was mail-only within your first 30 days, to the 2261 Market Street address; email opt-outs do not count.)
  • Seattle's App-Based Worker Deactivation Rights Ordinance (Jan 2025, upheld by the 9th Cir.
  • 2026) gives 14 days' notice, records access, an appeal, and reinstatement+backpay if unjustified; NYC has narrower food-delivery protections (Dec 2025).
