Uber: Serious safety complaint / unsafe driving deactivation appeal
Independent self-help tool. We are not Uber, not affiliated with Uber, and we never ask for your Uber password.
What this deactivation means
A rider reported dangerous/impaired driving or an unsafe incident; Uber removes access while investigating. Highest-stakes appealable bucket (adjacent altercation/criminal categories are zero-tolerance, not appealable). Reports can accumulate invisibly: the app may show fewer than Uber counts, so one new report can tip a clean-looking account, and false reports from refund-seeking riders are a known pattern.
Where and when to appeal
The evidence that moves this reason
- Match the proof to the claim: a driving report wants road video and speed data, a conduct report wants cabin audio and messages
- Dashcam (front + cabin)
- GPS/telematics showing normal speed/route
- Clean DMV record
- No citation for the trip
- A calm point-by-point timeline
- Uber explicitly invites audio/video
- If you completed Uber's quality/safety course after a prior warning, keep every written follow-up: emails praising improvement or promising review are evidence
What actually works
Answer the exact complaint with hard proof: dashcam, GPS, a clean driving record. If it's one person's word with nothing backing it, against your years of clean driving, say that plainly. No video of your own? Uber's app records trip data on every ride, so ask Uber to review its own speed and route record for the flagged trip. Never brush off a safety complaint; answer it with proof.
You can win this one, but only with strong, specific proof; a form letter won't move it.
