What this deactivation means

The agreement lets Grubhub re-run criminal and driving checks at any time, so a re-run can fail a record that passed before. Policy names recent felonies, serious offenses, pending charges, multiple moving violations or accidents in the last two years, and any recent DUI, reckless driving, or hit-and-run. The screening is run by an outside company, usually Checkr per driver reports, and wrong entries happen: another person's record, a resolved case shown as open, or a not-at-fault accident counted as a violation.

How to dispute a Grubhub background check

The report usually comes from Checkr, not Grubhub. Dispute the mistake with Checkr for free; the law (FCRA) makes them recheck it, usually within 30 days, and the fixed report goes to Grubhub automatically. Then appeal the deactivation itself, so your account gets another look and not just the report.

Where and when to appeal

Channel

Two official routes. First: reply to the deactivation email itself with a detailed explanation and your files; for violation cases the email subject is 'Your Grubhub Account is Blocked', and your reply is the appeal. Second: the 'Delivery Partners Request Form' on the driver help site, topic 'Deactivation Appeals', using the email and phone you signed up with. Attach photos or screenshots as .JPEG or .PNG only. Do not call Driver Care about violations; Grubhub's own help page says they cannot help with those. No dedicated appeals inbox (such as a driverappeals@ address) appears on any current official page, so the email thread and the form are the real channels.

Deadline

90 days from the date of the deactivation email, per Grubhub's challenge procedure. Seattle fraud suspensions ask for a reply within 7 days. Grubhub also says appeal windows vary by market, so file within the first week if you can.

Decision time

Grubhub says up to 14 days, and that it will notify you if it needs more time. Drivers report answers anywhere from 2 days to a few weeks, and some hear nothing until they send a follow-up.

The evidence that moves this reason

Your copy of the screening report (the adverse-action email links it, and you can get it free)
Certified court records showing dismissal, expungement, or the true outcome
A current DMV printout
Identity documents if the record is not yours
Your history of passed checks that included the same old record

What actually works

This is a documents case, not a persuasion case. If the report is wrong, dispute it with the screening company first; the law makes them recheck it, usually within 30 days, and the corrected report goes to Grubhub. Then reply on your deactivation thread with the fixed report attached. If the record is real but old, minor, or something earlier checks already passed, send the court papers and say exactly that.

You can win this one, but only with strong, specific proof; a form letter won't move it.
