Lyft: Expired / missing documents, failed inspection, or vehicle age deactivation appeal

Independent self-help tool. We are not Lyft, not affiliated with Lyft, and we never ask for your Lyft password.

What this deactivation means

An automatic, often temporary hold from an expired document, a failed or overdue vehicle inspection, or a car that no longer meets your market's vehicle age rules.

Where and when to appeal

Channel
Web form (Lyft Help Center ticket) or the in-app 'appeal' button; you can also reply to the deactivation email.
Deadline
No universal deadline; appeal fast while evidence is fresh. CA Prop 22: ~30-day practical window.
Decision time
By email; commonly 5-14 business days (harder safety cases take weeks). Wait 2 business days before a single follow-up.

The evidence that moves this reason

  • Current insurance, registration, license, and a passing inspection certificate or repair receipts
  • If it's a vehicle-age hold, the details of the newer car you'll drive

What actually works

Not really an appeal, just a fast fix. Upload the current document and confirm everything is up to date. If your car aged out of your market's rules, the fix is a qualifying vehicle, not a letter.

Good news on the odds: this is one of the reasons people win most often, when they bring the right proof.
